Cornwall players at
Budleigh Salterton's September 3-day Handicap Weekend
for the Stransham Bowl

32 Players took part in a Knockout competition followed by a consolation "Egyptian" event.

Tony Backhouse from the Cornwall Club played well, ending as Runner-up in the Egyptian event by winning 5 of his 6 games, with a handicap reduction from 10 to 9 and achieving his Croquet Association Silver Merit Award.  Well done Tony !

The winner of the Knockout was Andrew Usbourne (handicap 10) from Australia who played consistently well, winning all his games and using his handicap advantage expertly in the final against Brian Fisk (handicap 4.5).

The only other Cornwall Club player, Ian Wilson (handicap 11), did not fare so well, managing to win only 3 of 6 matches.

This is the second Silver Award this year for a Cornwall Club player - Malcolm Hooper having won his in another tournament at Budleigh last May
