Cornwall played their first Assoicaition Croquet league match of the season away against Plymouth.
Local knowledge and a team on the top of its form forced an overwhelming win for Plymouth. The results of this handicap match in the South West Federation's league were as follows:
Morning: Ian Wilson (8) and Colin Hadley (20) lost to Eddie Schaffert (10) and Bob Savage (10) by 5 points, Tony Backhouse (8) lost to Alan Schaffert (10) by 21 points.
Afternoon:
Ian Wilson (8) lost to Alan Schaffert (10) by 5 points
Tony Backhouse (10) lost to Bob Savage (10) by 7 points
Colin Hadley (20) lost to Eddie Schaffert (10) by 17 points.
In spite of the results, the battle was fought in good spirit and finished with much tactical discussion and technical comment over an excellent cream tea, generously provided by our hosts.
