After a prolonged journey, with the A30 blocked at Okehampton, Cornwall started well in the morning, winning the doubles and 1 out of the 2 single matches.
They fared less well in the afternoon, loosing 3 further singles.
It was left to Ron George to save face. In a cliff-hanger, watched by the other players, Ron caught up from being behind 8-12 to eventually win the game 14-12.
Everyone agreed it was a very enjoyable day with the fine weather being surpassed by the generous hospitality and superb facilities provided at the Budleigh Salterton Croquet Club.
