Monday 28th April provided typical spring weather for the two Cornish Croquet Clubs to commence their 2008 South West Federation league matches, on this occasion the B League against eachother.
The match, played on Cornwall's home courts at Porthpean, was closely fought with scores equal, 3 games each at 3pm.
This left Beryl Pullon (Fowey) and Des Honey (Cornwall) playing the decider, this being Beryl's debutante match, a brave attempt which Des, who entered the competitive croquet scene last year, in fact won, thus Cornwall were the match winners.
Tony Dyson, Jenny Burrows, Audrey Copus and Des Honey played for Cornwall, with Colin Hadley as non playing captain.
The Fowey team were : Barry Edwards, Stephen Read, Beryl Pullon and Rosemary Bradshaw (captain).
The referee was Nigel Grant, who is Cornwall's main coach.
Final Score: Cornwall 4 Fowey 3
