In perfect weather Porthpean hosted Nailsea to the second of this seasons league matches. Fielding a team of eight, including two members who had never played in a competition before, Porthpean fought bravely against a very experienced Nailsea team of six.
Taking them to time in 7 games and with 3 games drawn, the end result belies the end result of Nailsea 14, Porthpean 6.
Nailsea captain Jim Gregory admitted that Porthpean had scared them with their tenacity, impressed them with the quality of the lawns and fed them very well with a lovely Cornish tea. Porthpean captain Joyce Wilson was delighted with the Porthpean players who have improved greatly since last season.
