Six players from Cornwall Croquet Club competed in this event over the weekend of April 21st & 22nd. They were accompanied by four supporters who enjoyed some friendly games, or in one case, did a little visiting and shopping.
The weather forecast for the weekend was fairly ominous, but although distinctly chilly, particularly on the Saturday, we escaped the worst of the weather, including a very active thunderstorm which rumbled away a little to the west.
The tournament format is for a main knockout event, with an accompanying Egyptian for those eliminated in the knockout rounds.
In the main event, we had two semi-finalists - Elizabeth Schofield and Tony Dyson, who were knocked out at this stage, but Margaret Read finished third in the Egyptian.
Rosemary Bradshaw kindly invited all concerned to her house for drinks on the Friday evening, and convivial dinners were enjoyed on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
