Final Score: Cornwall 13 Sidmouth 7
Tuesday 7th May saw the opening match for the season with the newly combined players of Rosevear and Porthpean teams. Cornwall fielded a full team of 8 with the captain Bob Cash acting as backup.
The day started with 4 doubles where Cornwall won 3, and 1 match was drawn, so a good start.
As the singles progressed Cornwall managed to hold on to the lead with 3 single wins by Janet Bell and one single win by Rob Adams, Fiona Russell and Keith Wakeford.
Everybody contributed making it a successful competition for the Cornwall team.
The team from Cornwall consisted of Tanis Boxall, Fiona Russell, Graham Varcoe, Rob Adams, Janet Bell, Keith Wakeford, Kathryn Smyth and Kathleen Moorshead
The weather was very cold and dry in the morning, turning a little warmer in the afternoon.
We rounded the day off with a good tea, thanks to the Cornwall players' contributions.
