Four members of Cornwall club (Dorianne Forsdick, Rhona Foster, Bob Cash and Peter Dexter) set out bright and early for the first match of the season in the SWF Intermediate League on Monday 13th May. We travelled in one car with Bob and Peter happy to accommodate Rhona’s Freddie in between them on the back seat and Peter’s Toby enjoying a short holiday with friends on a farm.
The weather in Budleigh was bright and sunny, but we needed to wrap up against the cold wind that persisted all day.
We played one doubles and two singles games in the morning and then four singles games in the afternoon and were impressed by Budleigh’s lawns which provided an excellent playing surface.
The Budleigh team looked after us very well, providing a light lunch at mid-day and some nice tea and cake in the afternoon before we left for home.
After a very satisfactory day we returned home tired but happy to have won our first match 5 – 2.
