Our first AGM in the Cricket Pavilion at Fowey Community College on March 15th was well attended; there was much useful discussion about the present position, namely that the College will make available an area on the outfield of the cricket field and the pavilion for our use. This will be in conjunction with the Cricket Club and we are most grateful for this generosity. A constitution was adopted with subscriptions at £15, and there were plenty of suggestions for the way forward this year.
We welcome our new members, A membership form has been sent to all members with the printed form of this newsletter for potential new croquet players as well as for those of you who have not yet paid for the coming season. Please let us know if you do not wish to continue. We do however, appreciate our "supporters". New membership forms can be obtained from Reg Wapling or Bill Price - cheques and completed forms should be given to Bill Price (or any committee member).
Your committee is:

Janet Howard 01726 832405 and Sylvia Anson 01726 834839 (Social Events).
We open our season on Monday April 19th and we will have the facility to mark out a full size playing area given ground conditions. Club sessions will be as follows:
Monday Afternoons @ 2pm. Keyholder - Rosemary Bradshaw (Gwen Cussans, Janet
Howard).
Monday Evenings @ 6.30pm. Keyholder - Bill Price (Reg Wapling).
Tuesday Afternoons @ 2pm. Keyholder - Sylvia Anson (Bill Price).
(Would those of you who kindly volunteered their help, and any others, phone the relevant keyholder giving availability dates).
Ian Wilson (a most welcome new member and a CA Coach) has again freely offered his services; we would like to contribute to his travel costs, and we suggest £2 per member per session, any excess will go into our funds for purchase of equipment. Golf and Association Croquet will be covered, with the emphasis initially on Golf Croquet. Rosemary and Reg can help in a limited way with Association rules. Monday afternoons suit Ian and we plan to start on May 24th followed by another session on June 7th. Further dates to be arranged as members require.
Fowey Library has offered to buy 2 Croquet books (available fairly soon); if there is sufficient demand they may be able to get a third later on. Thank you Library Ladies.
We invite members to partake in our Association Croquet competition and would those who are interested please kindly telephone Rosemary by May 1 st. The competition will help us to set up an internal club handicap system.
This has been arranged for Thursday 20th May, 11am, and will consist of
a welcome over coffee by some of their committee members, guided play on their
four lawns, a chance to see all their facilities and equipment, BUFFET LUNCH,
and more play in the afternoon. Cost - £6 per person. There is parking
near to the club, and a location map will be available. This will be a great
day out and a really good opportunity to get ideas for Fowey, including how
to make those all essential trolleys, play on good grass, and meet with other
croquet players. Please ring Rosemary for any other details and return the
tear off slip below to her with a cheque (payable to Fowey Croquet Club).
NB.
deadline for completed forms is April 23rd so that we can give our Plymouth
hosts advance notice of numbers.
