Held at the Cricket Pavilion, this meeting was well supported with much discussion on the future of our club and playing venue. With only two votes against, the meeting voted in favour of continuing at Fowey Community College, recognising the overall facilities that are available to us at this location. We are grateful to the college for granting us continued use of these.
Club officers remain unchanged, being voted unanimously to continue to serve for a further year.
Sharpen those mallets and hone the skills for our season begins on Monday April 11th with a 'Hoop & Mallet' supper commencing at 6.30pm at the Cricket Pavilion. Croquet will be played thereafter, weather permitting! Please note that there will be no club afternoon on this day; to allow for club members to mark out the court and set up the equipment. Volunteers are needed for this essential activity.
The club sessions for this year will be on Monday afternoons at 2.00pm & evenings at 6.30pm, (excepting bank holidays) commencing the 18th April 2005. There will be no automatic club days for Tuesdays this year as this was not very well supported in the past. However, members wishing to play at other times should make prior arrangements with a committee member.
Monday Afternoons @ 2pm. Keyholder -
Rosemary Bradshaw (Gwen Cussans, Janet
Howard).
Monday Evenings @ 6.30pm. Keyholder - Reg
Wapling (Bill Price).
We will be grateful if members help with 'setting up' for the afternoon sessions and putting the equipment away on a Monday evening.
Most of you will be aware that the grass at the college is cut only on a weekly basis by the college contractor. In order to improve our playing area we are in the process of purchasing a cylinder mower and will require a volunteer army of grass cutters to operate on a rota basis. John Anson has very kindly volunteered to act as a coordinator for this task, and any member who can spare time to assist should contact John on 834839. It would be ideal to have the grass cut as close as is possible for our Monday club days.
Another full and varied programme has yet again been put together by our Social secretaries - Sylvia Anson & Janet Howard, and we are fortunate to have a very enthusiastic team in this role.
The first three dates for your calendar are:
Monday 11th April Hoop & Mallet Supper.

Just a reminder that Tony Backhouse (Chairman Cornwall Croquet Club) is very kindly donating a course of 6 x lessons here in Fowey which will commence on the 25th April at 11.00am. Dates of subsequent lessons to be arranged with Tony, (see the tear off slip on your printed newletter).
We have been very kindly invited to attend this event which commences at 2.30 with speeches and opening ceremonies, followed by an Exhibition Match at 3.00. Tea, which is being provided without charge, will be served at 4.30. To help CCC. with the seating and other arrangements it would be helpful to know of numbers wishing to attend. Therefore would interested members inform Reg, who will coordinate this event from our end, by the 20th April.
