Fowey struck lucky again with a very convincing win in their B League match versus Plymouth on Monday 30th April. This being the third victory in a row in their debut year for South West Federation competitions.
The morning saw Reg Wapling only just scraping past Plymouth's John Roberts towards time.
In the doubles, David Edwards and Tony Jennings (Fowey) won plus 8 against John Burgess and Nancy Rayment (Plymouth), and Stephen Read (Fowey) plus 12 against Peter Gates (Plymouth).
In the afternoon Peter found his form to win plus 13 against David Edwards, in fact giving David his only point with a difficult take off at hoop one.
Fowey won the remaining 3 matches to achieve an overall lead of 6 : 1.
Both Fowey and Cornwall benefit from the excellent coaching provided by the county's three qualified Croquet Association Coaches, Nigel Grant, Ian Wilson and Tony Backhouse, and this shows in the recent success of both clubs in outside competitive events.
