On June 27th 2017 the Porthpean GC team visited Budleigh Salterton for their match against Budleigh. The weather was overcast.
Budleigh's 11 lawns were in perfect condition, albeit running fast for the Porthpean team!!
The day commenced with the four doubles games. Porthpean took the lead taking three of the four points available. Rhona and Linda won their game 7/5 as did Trevor and Howard. Graham and Gill took their game to the golden hoop and won 7/6.
It was now time to play the singles games and Budleigh found their form. By lunchtime the match was 5/5.
After lunch Porthpean went into the lead again with Kathleen winning her game against Ann Gedge 7/3, Howard taking his game to the golden hoop against Steve Andrews and winning 7/6. Rhona won her game against Linda Hicks 7/5 and Linda won her game against Ann White 7/5.
Gill Clark had a very successful day winning two singles games, 7/5 and 7/3.
Eighteen games had now been played and Porthpean had 10 points to Budleigh's 8. Budleigh won the last two games of the day and so the match ended with a 10/10 draw.
Both teams then made their way to the Verandah and enjoyed a wonderful tea hosted by Budleigh.
